This intensive course was designed for doctors and medical professional with a busy schedule that want to take a big advantage of their total immersion experience. This course lasts two to four weeks, six hours per day. In the morning there will be an overview over general Spanish, followed by 2 hours private classes of Medical Spanish in the afternoon. Each student will be provided with a grammar and vocabulary textbook.
The students will obtain a list of basic vocabulary and a pamphlet containing dialogue and expressions used in a medical profession. The dialogue portion will represent a patient - doctor relationship including to interview a patient about his medical history, medications taken, aliments, symptoms etc. by using the specific anatomical terminology.
In addition, this program includes observation opportunities (in Costa Rica it is almost impossible to find hands on volunteer work due to heavy regulations) in local clinics and hospitals where you can practice what you have learned in the classroom. Here you will learn all the appropriate terminology needed to practice medicine. This is the most comprehensive program of its kind. There are some days when you will be observing in the hospital or clinics and listen what you have learned in class. Observations will take place twice a week for 2 hours per visit and are subject to availability.
